Do you have Cold Feet?

Have you ever wanted something so bad that when you receive it you experience anxiety? You want to move out of your parents house, then when the time comes you realize you aren’t ready. You wanted to be married and then realize it takes a lot of work to keep a marriage. There’s so many situations that will cause  you to have “Cold Feet.” Even in the midst of anxiety, you have to remember what God told you. You have to remember why you wanted something. The enemy always comes to steal, kill, and destroy John 10:10. He doesn’t want you to experience anything good, especially when it’s connected to your purpose. It’s natural for people to feel nervous when they’re about embark on a new journey. New people, New opportunities, New habits- sounds like you’re moving out of your comfort zone. If that’s the case, you are where you need to be.

I remember starting a new job,  I was terrified. I felt incompetent because it was new territory. I felt like I should’ve stayed at my old job, I was comfortable. I didn’t have to put in extra work. I could hide and remain stagnant. There really wasn’t much expected of me. Now that I’m writing it, it sounds crazy lol. In Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. I didn’t want to submit my plans, I wanted to follow my own. Following my own plans caused cold feet instead of peace. I now know that no matter what path I take, I have to submit my plans to God. When doing so, you will experience peace no matter the outcome. I will list some ways to get rid of cold feet…

  1. Submit your plans to God

  2. Trust him in every area

  3. Remember why you started

  4. Pray

  5. Consult Godly Counsel (Accountability)

It’s so simple when written out, but difficult to live out. You can do it though. Remember Romans 12:2, Do not conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing, and perfect will.
