If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me – Jeremiah 29:13

It’s important that we keep our focus on God and the things of God. Many distractions come our way and we have to be careful in not placing God last. God is a jealous God anything taking our focus away from him, he will pull away. It’s extremely important that we check our mind and heart to see where our focus is and how we can do that is by checking what has our attention. It’s normal to get caught up in life, priorities shift, and there is a lack of balance, however, nothing should be placed above our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Matthew 6:33 – But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. The word clearly states that if we seek God he will give us the things we need and all things will be added to us. Never does it say focus on your circumstance and all things will be added, focus on your problems and all things will be added, focus on things you cannot change and all things will be added. We have to focus and seek God and that’s when things will change.

Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. Those things that are good are from the Lord, and anything opposite is the enemy. When we focus on the negative issues and problems we focus on what the enemy Is doing. That’s one of his tactics to capture our mind and get us to focus on him and not God. We have to be very careful of what we allow our mind to focus on because we begin to dwell on those things. For example, there was a point I focused on relationships. Social media made relationships look so appealing and I found myself wanting it more. It seemed like the more I focused on not being a relationship the more I got depressed. The more I got depressed the more I blamed God. I blamed God for not sending me my “Boaz”. I felt like I was doing everything right and I still had no one. It wasn’t until God checked me and revealed to me that I was focusing on a man instead of ” The Man”. That man is the Lord, the one who died for me, the one who forgave my sins. I felt so convicted because I knew better, but I allowed my fleshly desires to interfere.

That’s why it’s important to study and spend time in the word of God daily. We can get so caught up in the things that are not of God and fall off track. The beautiful thing is that God is a forgiving God and he loves us anyway. That doesn’t mean take him for granted but embrace his love. If you have difficulty in focusing on God or need help, it’s encouraged to have accountability partners. An accountability partner Is someone that will help, encourage, and keep you moving in the right direction. An accountability Is someone that you can trust and there is no age limit. You know that God sent that person to cover you in prayer and push you to greatest. There will be seasons where you are focused on God more than others, and that’s normal. Life will happen but we have to focus on who gave us life. So today, renew your mind and focus on the things of God. It will change your mind!
